Why Did Queen Elizabeth Have to Pull Meghan Markle Aside Before the Wedding?

It is hard to believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already been married a year. It seems like just yesterday there was speculation as to what Meghan’s dress would look like, who the designer would be, and whether Meghan’s family would receive wedding invites.

Fast forward 12 months and Meghan and Harry are not only happily married, but they just welcomed their first precious child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Time may have flown by, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t still talking about one of the most amazing royal weddings we have ever seen. Although the whole ceremony was broadcast live for the entire world to see, there was a lot going on behind the scenes that we did not witness.

With everyone working hard to plan things to perfection, there was no doubt that it caused a little drama. So, why did Queen Elizabeth have to pull Meghan Markle aside before the wedding?

The world was watching

There is no doubt that things were a little stressful for the royal bride. She knew that she wouldn’t just be walking down the aisle in front of her guests, but that millions of people all over the world would be watching.

It is not surprising that Meghan wanted to micro-manage every last detail, as her wedding day would be watched, photographed, criticized, and remembered for years to come. Marrying a prince is something that most people can only dream of.

Meghan is very hands-on

As everyone knows, Meghan is not one to sit back and let everyone else take care of things. She likes to give her input and opinion, and she definitely likes things done a certain way. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and Meghan wanted it to be a day that would leave her with many wonderful memories.

It is possible that Meghan may have unintentionally gotten a little carried away when giving directions to royal staff, as she was extremely stressed before the big event.

Meghan was dealing with family drama

We can’t forget that Meghan’s family drama began around the time that she and Prince Harry announced their engagement. She was dealing with hurtful comments from her sister, as well as her brother writing not one, but two letters to Harry advising him not to go through with the wedding.

The drama could not have been easy for Meghan to handle, and it likely made her stress level even more than it already was.

Why did the queen have to pull Meghan aside?

Apparently, Meghan got a little too demanding when she was talking to royal staff, and the queen didn’t like it one bit. Reportedly, Meghan was getting upset over tasting egg in a dish to be served at the wedding reception that she was told didn’t have egg in it.

Katie Nicholl, a royal author, explains, “And I think there was a bit of an upset when suddenly the queen walked in, because of course this is Windsor Castle, this is her home. And she just quietly took Meghan to the side and said ‘Meghan, in this family, we don’t speak to people like that.”

As everyone knows, the queen has very strict rules regarding the behavior of everyone in the royal family, and she expects they treat staff with respect. We do know that Meghan is not a mean-spirited person by any stretch of the imagination, and chances are, she didn’t realize that she was offending the staff at all.
